Dimitri Daniloff, fashion photographer, 33 years old, has started his career as a studio assistant, then travelled in Europe and to the USA to work on various photographic project.
He starts his career as an independant photographer in 1998, being represented in France, Germany, Spain and in the USA.
In 2003, Dimitri Daniloff makes his commercial directing debut.
Among his realizations, stand the following reknowned campains: Playstation, Adidas, Festina, Vichy, Stephane Kelian, Marithe & Francois Girbaud, Nissan, Absolut Vodka calendar, Wella.
Dimitri Daniloff collaborates on redactional with magazines the like of Weastest, Surface, Style and the family tune. He enjoys creating a story around a concept

I do assignment photography, mostly for advertising
and fashion. I donТt shoot stock. In Europe I am represented
by different agents. But after Corbis opened
its assignment department, I talked to them about representing
me in the Americas and Asia. This was more
than three years ago. The advantage is that I am given
personalized service by my agent, but she is in contact with all the other
Corbis people, who have connections and shop my book around. I have
gotten much more exposure internationally this way and have shot a
number of trips abroad, including two in Canada.
In my work, I like to mix strange things with very simple surroundings.
I don't want to shock people, even if my images are shocking. I first want
them to look and think, УOh, thatТs a nice picture,s and then, That's
weird,I and not the other way around. The thing is to keep the idea
very simple and not put my style in the foreground. For example, I shot
a picture of a guy making love to a scorpion for an ad campaign about
AIDS. I saw a similar image shot in Asia, but it had a very dark mood
and lighting. The way I shot it, in a studentТs room, it was very white and
very simple. This is a way to make the idea more accessible to people,
so they donТt look away in disgust.
Using a very simple esthetic also makes the special effects in my
pictures more realistic. While a lot of my work is put together in post-
production, I try not to rely on Photoshop for my effects. I will always
shoot more than I need and get everything, including the right shadows.
Good post-production happens when you have the maximum amount of
real things to put together. For one picture I may work with 10 different
shots and just use Photoshop to assemble them.
A little more than a year ago, I also started directing commercials for
Air France, Eurostar and other clients. For me this is more like a hobby.
I only work for clients who give me a lot of freedom, even more than
photography. I have to really like the project. So I have only done about
10 commercials so far. .
